Mastering Different Types of Bets in Roulette: Straight Bet, Split Bet, and More!

Straight Bet

This is betting that one number on the roulette layout will hit on the next spin. The payoff for a straight bet is thirty-five to one. For example, to bet $2 on the number 35, you would place $2 in chips on the number 35 on the roulette layout, making sure the chips aren’t touching any lines. If 35 hits on the next spin, you win $70.

Split Bet

This is betting that one of two numbers adjacent on the layout will hit on the next spin. The payoff for a split bet is seventeen to one. For example, to bet a $5 split bet on 28 and 31, you would place $5 in chips on the line between 28 and 31. If either 28 or 31 hits on the next spin, you win $85.

Trio Bet

This is betting that one of three numbers in one row of the table layout will hit on the next spin. This is sometimes also called a street bet or a stream bet. The payoff for a trio bet is eleven to one. For example, to bet $4 on the trio 10, 11, and 12, you would place $4 in chips on the line at either end of the 10-11-12 row, making sure your chips do not touch any other line. If 10, 11, or 12 hits on the next spin, you win $44.

Four-Number Bet

This is betting that one of four numbers will hit on the next spin. The numbers must all touch at one point on the layout. The payoff for a four-number bet (sometimes called a square bet) is eight to one. For example, to bet $1 on the four numbers 25, 26, 28, and 29, you would place $1 in chips on the point where the corners of the 25, 26, 28, and 29 boxes meet. If 25, 26, 28, or 29 hits on the next spin, you win $8.

Five-Number Bet

This is betting that one of the following five numbers will hit: 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3. No other five numbers can be played. The payoff for this bet is six to one. To bet $10, you would place $10 in chips on the side lines where either 0 and 1 or 00 and 3 touch. If 0, 00, 1, 2, or 3 hits on the next spin, you win $60.

Six-Number Bet

This is betting that one of six numbers in two consecutive rows on the layout will hit on the next spin. The payoff for this bet is five to one. For example, to bet $15 on 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, you would place your $15 in chips on either side line at the point intersected by the line dividing the 10-11-12 row and the 13-14-15 row (that is, on the outside edge between 10 and 13 or the outside edge between 12 and 15). If 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, or 15 hits on the next spin, you win $75.
