There’s not much to Caribbean stud poker. The basic strategy is to stay on any hand in which you have a pair or higher. Another good tactic is if you have a pair that is higher than the dealer’s up card, then stay; otherwise, fold your hand. The idea is that if the dealer’s up card is higher than your pair card, than it’s a good chance he could beat you if he has a match to the up card in his hand. However, if you have a match of the dealer’s up card, than you can stay with your hand as long as you have at least a pair. If you have an ace-king and a match of the dealer’s up card, then it’s a good idea to stay as well.
The strategy to follow for playing the jackpot is to play the extra dollar only if the jackpot is $150,000 or greater. Just keep in mind that every time you play the dollar for the jackpot, you’re going to go through your betting money more quickly. Waiting until the $150,000 mark before playing the jackpot will cut your time being played for the jackpot considerably. Also, if it’s been a while since the jackpot has been hit and it reaches the $150,000 mark, there’s a better (though still not likely) chance over time of actually hitting the jackpot.
